Reading List: Racism, A Blueprint

    • Yes, around 2013. The New Jim Crow covered a lot of the materials that came before it. Like Angela Davis’s “Are Prisons Obsolete?”. I liked the research behind it but it left out so many stories concerning many demographics of other prisoners. Like the high rate of Black women incarcerated, sterilization of incarcerated women of color, and healthcare in prisons that is denied heavily to Black trans women in men. There was so much more that could have been encompassed, but I did appreciate the coverage of the militarization of police over the 80s & 90s. I think it’s a good starter read for sure.
